The Lake Suite
from $325 CAD / night
Lake Ontario · One hour from Toronto
Eight quiet rooms on the north shore, slow breakfasts, and a window full of water every morning.
Our story
Amber Lake House is a 1920s shoreline home, rebuilt with big windows and wide-plank floors. We kept the creaky stair and the woodstove. There's no lobby and no buffet, just a kitchen table where breakfast comes out warm, and a dock that's yours at sunrise.
We're an hour east of Toronto, close enough for a Friday escape and far enough that the city goes quiet.
Stay with us
Breakfast included. Midweek and November–April rates start lower; summer weekends have a two-night minimum.

Inside the house
The dining room
Our kitchen cooks from Northumberland farms and the morning's bakery run. Sit together at the big pine table or take a corner by the window.
The lounge
When the lake goes dark, the club room lights up: deep leather chairs, a walnut poker table by the fire and a wall of Ontario whiskies and single malts.
19+ only. Entry is reserved for guests aged 19 and over with valid government-issued photo identification. GameSense advisors and responsible-gaming resources are available whenever the floor is open.
Around the house
Kayaks and paddleboards are free for guests. The lake is glass before 8.
Easy loops from 2 to 10 km, with trail maps and packed lunches from the kitchen.
Cobourg's beach and old main street are about 15 minutes west; County vineyards under an hour east.
A stone fire pit on the point, Adirondack chairs, blankets and s'mores kits. Lit at sunset, every night it isn't raining.
Short walks nearby
Four seasons on the shore
June – August
Swim off the dock before breakfast, borrow a kayak after lunch, and watch the sun go down from the lawn with a glass of County rosé.
September – November
Our favourite time. Colour drives along the shore, harvest dinners at nearby wineries, and the fire circle lit every night.
December – February
Snowshoe the shoreline trail, warm up in the cedar sauna, then curl up with a book while the lake freezes into sculpture.
March – May
Migrating birds, first coffee on the dock, and the quietest rates of the year. Perfect for a midweek reset.
