Amber Lake House
Terms & Conditions
Last updated: October 28, 2026
About these terms
These Terms & Conditions apply to every booking request, reservation and stay at Amber Lake House ("we", "us"), and to the use of amberlakehouse.com. By sending a booking request or staying with us, you agree to them on behalf of yourself and everyone in your party.
Booking requests & confirmation
A request sent through our website or by email is not a reservation. Your booking is confirmed only when we email you a written confirmation with a booking reference. We aim to reply within 24 hours.
The person making the booking must be at least 18 years old and is responsible for all guests and charges under the reservation. Booking a room does not give access to the lounge for guests under 19 (see section 8).
Rates, taxes & payment
- All prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD), per room, per night, with breakfast for two included.
- Rates vary by season and day of the week. The price shown when you request a booking is an estimate; the confirmed price is the one in your confirmation email.
- Ontario HST (13%) is added to accommodation, food and beverage charges.
- After confirmation we send a secure payment link. Payment terms (deposit or full prepayment) are stated in your confirmation.
- A credit card and valid government-issued photo ID are required at check-in for incidentals.
Cancellations & changes
- More than 7 days before arrival: free cancellation, full refund.
- Within 7 days of arrival: the first night (plus tax) is non-refundable.
- No-show or early departure: the full reserved stay is charged.
Date changes are subject to availability and may change the rate. To cancel or change a booking, email us with your booking reference.
Check-in, check-out & minimum stay
- Check-in from 3:00 pm; check-out by 11:00 am. Early check-in and late check-out on request, subject to availability.
- Summer weekend stays (June to August, including a Friday or Saturday night) require a minimum of two nights.
- Stays longer than 14 nights are arranged directly by email.
Occupancy, children & pets
- Each room has a maximum occupancy shown on the website. Extra guests in the Hearth Suite are charged per guest per night.
- Children are welcome in the rooms, dining room and outdoor areas when accompanied by an adult. The lounge, bar and gaming floor are strictly 19+, including when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- Pets are not permitted, except service animals.
Smoke-free property
In line with the Smoke-Free Ontario Act, 2017, all indoor spaces, including rooms and the lounge, are smoke- and vape-free. Cigars may be enjoyed only on the designated heated veranda. Smoking or vaping indoors results in a cleaning charge of CAD 250.
The lounge: 19+ entry & ID
Entry is reserved for guests aged 19 and over with valid government-issued photo identification. GameSense advisors and responsible-gaming resources are available whenever the floor is open.
- The lounge includes the bar, the whisky wall, the card and table games, and the gaming machines. All of it is 19+, with no exceptions, including for hotel guests and anyone accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- Accepted ID: a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID such as a driver's licence, passport, Ontario Photo Card or permanent resident card. Photocopies and photos of ID on a phone are not accepted.
- ID is checked at the door and may be checked again at any time, including at the tables, at the bar and when collecting a payout. Guests who cannot show valid ID will be asked to leave.
- Allowing, helping or encouraging anyone under 19 to enter, drink or play, or playing on their behalf, will result in removal from the lounge and may be reported to the authorities.
- Opening hours for the bar (5 pm – midnight) and the gaming floor are posted at the entrance and may change seasonally.
Gaming rules
- The lounge offers poker, baccarat, blackjack and gaming machines. All gaming is conducted in accordance with the Criminal Code of Canada, the Gaming Control Act, 1992, and the standards of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).
- The rules, minimum and maximum bets and payouts for each game are posted at the table or on the machine. In case of a dispute, the decision of the floor manager applies; you may also contact the AGCO.
- Chips and machine credits have no value outside the lounge and must be exchanged before you leave the property. We do not lend money or extend credit for gaming.
- A machine malfunction voids all pays and plays on that machine.
- Large payouts and cash transactions require photo ID and are recorded and, where required, reported under federal anti-money-laundering law (for example, cash transactions of CAD 10,000 or more).
- Cheating, collusion, marking cards, using phones or electronic devices at the tables, and playing on behalf of another person are not allowed and will result in removal and loss of any winnings involved.
- We may refuse service, limit play or ask any guest to leave the gaming floor at our discretion, including anyone who appears intoxicated or in distress.
- Guests enrolled in a self-exclusion program, or who have asked us to exclude them, will be refused entry to the gaming floor for the full exclusion period.
Responsible gaming
Gaming should be entertainment, not a way to make money. We encourage every guest to set a time and money limit before playing and to stop when it is reached.
- GameSense advisors and responsible-gaming resources are available whenever the floor is open. Ask any member of staff for information about how the games work, the odds, or tools to stay in control.
- Self-exclusion: you can ask us at any time to exclude you from the gaming floor for a period of your choice (minimum six months). Once requested, it cannot be cancelled before the period ends.
- Free, confidential help 24/7: ConnexOntario, 1-866-531-2600 · connexontario.ca.
Alcohol
- Alcohol is served by Smart Serve certified staff in accordance with the Liquor Licence and Control Act, 2019 and our liquor licence. You must be 19 or older to buy or drink alcohol.
- We refuse service to anyone who appears intoxicated, and may ask them to leave the lounge.
- Outside alcohol is not permitted in the lounge or other public areas.
Guest conduct & damage
We ask all guests to respect quiet hours in the guest rooms (10:00 pm to 8:00 am) and other guests. We may end a stay without refund if a guest's behaviour is unsafe or seriously disruptive. Guests are responsible for any damage to the property beyond normal wear. For safety and regulatory reasons, the lounge, gaming floor, entrances and parking areas are monitored by CCTV (see our Privacy Policy).
Activities & outdoor facilities
Kayaks, paddleboards, the dock, the fire circle, the sauna and nearby trails are used at your own risk. Life jackets must be worn on the water, children must be supervised at all times, and staff instructions and posted rules must be followed. The fire circle is lit and put out by staff only.
Liability & lost property
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss of, or damage to, guests' personal belongings, for gaming losses, or for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Ontario law. Items left behind are kept for 30 days and can be shipped at the guest's cost.
Changes & governing law
We may update these terms from time to time; the version in force when you make your booking applies. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there.
